4 July 2018-A Toast to the Rotary Club of East Nassau, New Providence, Bahamas

Stuart Diggins proposed the toast. He chose this Club because it is the home of the 2018-19 Rotary International President, Barry Rassin.

The Club was chartered on 6 May 1963 and is in Rotary District 7020. The 2018-19 President is Hope Sealey leading one hundred and nine (109) members. They meet at Nassau Yacht Club, East Bay Street, Nassau, New Providence Bahamas on Fridays at 12:30 PM.

The Club's projects include:

  • Mangrove planting, a climate initiative in conjunction with the Bahamas National Trust. (80% of the land mass of the Bahamas is within 1m of sea level, which is estimated to increase by 2m by the year 2100);
  • A Vocational committee program for Employment Placement for Civic Participants;
  • A hamburger van made available to community groups to assist them to raise funds;
  • A scholarship fund; and
  • A Rotaract Club. 
And On 13 August 2018-To The Rotary Club Of Gent, Belgium
 
John Erkins proposed the toast. He chose the Club because it's just 30 km’s from the best Trappist Brewery in the city of Dandremonde which makes  “Triple Karmeliet” beer from barley, wheat and oats. 


 

The Club is in district 1620 and was chartered in May 1977. They meet every week in the “Hotel De Lourdes”. On the 1st, 2nd and 3rd week of the month commencing at 7:30pm and on the 4th week at 12 noon.

                        

Currently the club has fifty three (53) members-forty two (42) male and eleven (11) female. Of these fifty one (51) are Paul Harris Fellows (PHF).
