At last Monday's meeting we had the pleasure of the company of our District Governor (DG) Robyn Yates  (RC Of Collie) on her official visit to the Club. She was accompanied by Assistant Governor (AG) David Porter (RC Of Melville). Robyn gave an inspiring speech which we report on below. Also there to support her were Lorraine Hamilton and Mahes Pushpalingam.

It was great to have Erwin Biemel with us again (especially because he was to be on the receiving end of a further recognition); David Honeychurch back from holidays in Italy; as well as our newest Rotarian Ann Edgar.

Erwin wasn't the only recipient of an award and it gave me much pleasure to announce that we were awarding Simon Cubitt a Paul Harris Fellowship which DG Robyn kindly presented. Well done Simon. Richly deserved.

The Community Fair Committee are keen to have some extra members to assist in the planning of the 2019 Fair. If you are interested please contact Simon Cubitt.

Please advise Secretary John Erkins and Wayne Hand, if you know you will be unavailable for Rotary meetings and/or Market Roster as early as possible to help assist with forward roster planning etc.

Our normal Monday meeting on October 8th includes 'HAT DAY' celebration so please start early to find a  'wacky' hat to wear on the night. Our Club Director of Community Service, Ashley West, has organised some excellent prizes for the raffle-including wine from his very own cellar. All proceeds raised from the raffle will go to Australian Rotary Health's Lift The Lid programme in support of Mental Health Research.

DISTRICT GOVERNOR ROBYN PRESENTS
It was the Club's very great pleasure to have the energetic, engaging and very approachable District Governor Robyn Yates on her official visit to our Club.

In her speech to the Club Robyn reflected on growing up with parents willing to put themselves out to help others in need; This made her comfortable from a young age in giving, without expecting anything in return.  She learnt how the smallest act of kindness could change someone’s day for the better and put a smile on a strangers’ face. She continued

Hearty congratulations to Simon Cubitt for his richly deserved Paul Harris Fellow Award (PHF) presented to him by District Governor Robyn (pictured below). You'll know Simon well. He's the photogenic fellow who features regularly on our story page.

Bruce's Funny Story

Bruce went to the police station and asked to speak to the burglar who had broken into his house the previous night.

'You'll get your chance in court,' the desk Sergeant Kelly told him.

'I have to know how he got into the house without waking my wife,' pleaded Bruce. 'I've been trying to do that for years.'
