Welcome everyone to January 2018. We kicked it off with the President's BBQ (fully catered and no sign of a barbecue anywhere) in fine Hawaiian style as a tribute to our exchange student, Cole, and his homeland. Aside from the one glaring wardrobe clash below (the jury is out on whether it was shared good taste or simply the same source of supply!), the remainder of the gathering had no trouble in being "distinct". The leis, illuminated garlands and the array  of colourful shirts and dresses set the scene for a fun and very social evening which included celebrating Cole's birthday. "Chez Hendo" provided the perfect setting and I thank our hosts Mary and Dave Henderson, who worked tirelessly to ensure the event was a great success. My thanks also to Wayne Hand for attending to the attendance; and to Leigh and Sue Thorp for organising the raffle on behalf of the Willetton Senior High School (WSHS) Interact Club. It raised $159 which the Interactors will donate to the Esther Foundation.

 

 

January 2018 is also Vocational Service Month (explained below); and marks the beginning of the second half of our Rotary Year which promises to be as busy as ever with a major focus on preparations for the 26th Willetton Rotary Community Fair on Sunday 8 April 2018. The Fair committee is leading the way and given everyone's support from here on, I'm confident we can build upon previous successes to make the event bigger and better than ever.
